July 15th: Entry no. 3

Learned some things about self today. Had job. Had friend. Well, still do. Tye is his name. I was scared of girl in bed but not Tye. I feel safe around him. He cooked smelly food for me but I know it was out of kindness. He also gave me orange. It tasted very good! Better than red. He also had some white but did not let me taste. Keep learning more and more things about Night. Sounds like a bad person. Maybe I was a bad person before. But I keep thinking. What makes me good now? Why good now? I don’t understand. We’re going up to my room. The dirty one that I hate. I hope Ms. Goth is gone because she scared me. Also the red scared me too. But Tye is here with me and I feel safe, though.

--------------------------------

“Okay, you done writing?” he asked impatiently.

I closed the book tight.

“Yes.”

“Alright, let’s head on up there.” he said as he got up from the chair.

He helped me up out of my chair and then we marched up the stairs. He came up to the door and stepped to the side. I walked up to it and grabbed the handle. I tried to turn it but it didn’t budge. I looked over at Tye for an answer.

“Hm… you got your keys?”

I looked down, remembering that there was two keys on the ring that I stole from myself. I tried the one without the handle. It fit, it turned, and it opened. I started to sweat lightly. My throat swelled and my breathing slowed. I couldn’t understand why I was so scared but Tye nudged my back so I stepped in cautiously. The room was how I had left it. Ms. Goth was gone and my worry left me. I looked back at the desk at the computer, only now, it was turned on.

Did Ms. Goth turn this on?

I walked closer to the computer as Tye walked around the room, examining things.

Odd… I like this a lot… I feel like I understand it… like it’s speaking to me.

I tapped the mouse and the screen blared to life. Several windows were minimized.

I remember this. How to use it… it’s very familiar.

I opened the bottom window and it popped up. It was all text.

“Tye.” I said reading the words.

“Hm? What.”

“What is this?”

He came up behind me and leaned over my shoulders. It made me shudder, feeling how close he was.

“Kage-Tech’s employment list… Aaron, Robert: Fail. Anderson, Steven: Fail. Austine, Rebecca: Fail… this is every single employee that has worked at Kage-Tech.” he read.

“What does it mean?”

“People who has worked there…I… I’m not sure. Why is there a ’fail’ behind all these names. Well, wait. Benning, Christina: Pass… Go down some.”

I clicked and dragged the scrollbar down.

Christina… Christina… sounds familiar. I… feel like I know that person.

“Stop right there.” Tye said, pointing to the screen, “Night, Gregory: Testing…”

I stared at the typed name.

Why is my name on here?

I turned to ask Tye a question.

“I worked at Kage-Tech?”

He nodded.

“Yeah. Kage-Tech: Living… advanced… that’s their slogan… but, I don’t understand why you have this list.”

“What does Kage-Tech do?”

Tye looked at me weirdly. I wish he had a better memory so he could remember that I had forgotten mine.

“Well, they produce a variety of household goods. Medicine to machines that help around the house.”

“What did I do there?” I asked.

“You worked as a programmer. You’re extremely computer smart. That’s why they hired you. But I remember you telling me that they’ve been giving you crap-jobs, like typing up documents, organizing files, stuff like that.”

I nodded slowly. Tye walked away, continuing to check things out. I wanted to stay where I was. I was learning more this way. I went back to the bottom and pulled up the next window. It was a blue print of something. But…

Wait… I’ve seen this before.

I reached into my pocket and unfolded the crumpled paper. It was the same picture. It was square and small. Notes were placed on the sides of the figure, titled different things. A.1: 1x1 cm model: adult. A.2: Placement: Spinal line. A.3:

I… I’m getting dizzy. My, my stomach!

I decided to not continue with this specific page. It was hurting me. Besides, I had one in my pocket that I could use later on anyway. Next window. Another blueprint. This one made my stomach and brain hurt more than the previous one. It stung my eyes and I had to hold my head down.

It feels better when I do this. When I crunch my stomach like this; my neck.

Tye didn’t notice. He was looking at the posters on the wall. I gritted my teeth and looked up at the picture. It reminded me of a bug. A spider; a mechanical one. It was a small sphere with several long leg-like spikes on the sides. My stomach whirled. It churned and I could feel liquid smashing against the sides, like waves. Still on the chair I bent forward, past my legs, with my mouth open. It leaked saliva but it was quickly followed by the rush of warm red. It projectiled out of me and I couldn’t stop it. It slowed but the remains dripped from my lips. Tye yelled though the other room.

“What the hell is this?!?” he shouted, running out of the bathroom.

“Is this blood?” he asked shakily as he ran; his shoes made red prints on the already dirty carpet.

His eyes widened even farther as he looked at me holding my stomach then the puddle of red that was seeping through the carpet.

“Holy shit! You have to get to a hospital!” he yelled as he rushed towards me.

Hospital can wait.

I turned back to the computer, churning feeling disappearing. I pushed the print button and the spider-blueprint and the employee list printed out. I dragged the cursor to the bottom once more and opened the last window. It was another picture. Only this one made me scream. A stab of fear struck my chest and I couldn’t bear it. I screamed loud. I was surprised at how loud it was. I held my stomach again, not wanting to see it. Tye crouched like a scared animal.

“What?!?! What is it?”

At first I couldn’t speak. The act of voice that I just did wore out my breath. But I managed to tell him.

“P, print it.” I said getting up.

The smell of the room intensified. The red soiled my room. That was the smell. Tye put his hand on the back of my shoulder.

“I will. Get your ass in the car now. I’m taking you to the hospital”

I nodded, even though I didn’t know what this hospital was. I walked out of the door and watched him move the mouse, clicking. The printer made a loud scratching noise, then he grabbed the three sheets of paper and walked me down the stairs, out of the building.

I hate this place.

We walked over to the car but this time, Tye led me to the passenger side. He was driving. I sat down in my seat and opened up the notebook to a blank page and began writing. Tye, before starting the car, looked at what had made me scream. It was a picture of the world being held in a hand of a man… but the hand held it in a way that looked sinister. The man’s fingers curled around the sphere and were spread far apart, looking like each finger would actually rip from one another. The hand was floating under the earth. The hand belonged to an unknown source. Underneath the strange picture was the words “Kage-Tech: Living Advanced”.

This was their logo.
