Why Write?

My Reasons

I write because it feels like someone’s listening to me when no one will. I write because it’s a way to vent without punching a hole in my wall. I write so I won’t forget my dreams or the past. I write to entertain. I write to make people cry. I write to make people laugh. I write to deceive. I write to make sense of the world. I write as a way to let out my sorrows so others don’t have to experience them. I write to make myself feel better. I write because it’s life. I write because I’m scared. I write because I’m fearless.

I write because it’s required. I write because I feel like writing. I write because my writing is one thing I can control. I write because writing is something I can’t control. I write because I’m bored. I write because I want to make a difference. I write to fill up pages. I write because I need to empty the garbage out of my head. I write because it makes things better. I write because it makes things worse. I write because I want to know where I came from. I write for the hell of it.

I write because I have nothing better to do. I write because writing won’t talk back or make rude comments. I write because it’s like having a friend. I write because it’s like having an enemy. I write because I want to find myself. I write because I don’t want to be found. I write to save myself from myself. I write because writing holds the keys to life. I write so I won’t forget my mistakes. I write so I won’t forget my accomplishments. I write because I’m a good writer. I write because I’m a terrible writer. I write because I enjoy it. I write because I hate it. I write because I want to. I write because I’m upset. I write because it helps. I write because it doesn’t help.

I write because I’m human. I write because I have ideas. I write because I want ideas. I write as an attempt to make sense of it all. I write because I know it will never make sense. I write because it doesn’t have to make sense. I write because it makes sense. I write because I can. I write because I can’t. I write because people say I shouldn’t. I write because people say I should.

I write to be an outcast. I write because it’s all I have left. I write because I want more. I write because I want less. I write to fit in. I write because I’m lonely. I write because I’m smothered. I write because I want to get better. I write because my grade depends on it. I write because I want a good education. I write to get into college. I write to win. I write to lose. I write because I’m being told to. I write because I choose to. I write because I want to be forgotten. I write because I want to be remembered.
