As the months went by
A strange black sticky mold
Grew like leeches at the sides of her mouth
It tasted sour and vulgar
But she could not seem to spit it out

More and more people began to see it
Yet they would say nothing
Keeping it secret in their eyes
Disgusted at it's stench and resting place

Soon, it covered her entire mouth
It was all she ever thought about
Day after day after day
Tasting it and loathing it more and more
Turning it into a monstrous thing

It was growing at the back of her throat now
Talking took too much effort with it's stickiness
Then she did not talk at all
The massive black mold encased her tender lips
And dripped off her chin

She dreaded waking up each morning
Breathing its stench and tasting its cursedness
It was all she could think about
It completely weakened her and consumed her
She had not one drop of confidence left in her

Through her throat, it started to gnaw
Gnaw on her frail body
Time was unaccountable now
And she was locked in her sticky mess
It would not be long
Until it went to her heart
And she'd be gone forever
In her bitter silence, pain, and suffering

Yet all those who could have helped her
Only held their nose from the stench in disgust
And left her alone to fight a monster
That already had her shackled
