“Silence and no slouching!” shouted the plump women as she grabbed two rather large bricks from outside.

She came back inside the classroom and then handed the bricks to a young girl in her teens.

“I will not, I repeat, will not tolerate your behavior any longer!” yelled the woman.

The girl rolled her eyes and looked at the ceiling while placing a brick in each hand. The girl had short brown hair and soft blue eyes. She shot a glare at her friend who was laughing silently. The teacher continued her lesson. The girl at the desk was a little younger than the one standing. Against her dark brown hair, which was neatly in a ponytail, and her dark blue eyes, she looked very pale. She slid her black framed glasses down her nose and stuck out her tongue. The girl with the bricks laughed back.

“Miss Quance! Would you like to join your friend Justine in the corner?” the teacher shouted from nowhere.

“No! I, uh…” but before Michelle could finish the teacher shouted “UP! UP! Two bricks. Now!”

Michelle groaned and then grabbed two of the littlest bricks, then stood next to Justine.

“Now then, can anyone tell me about the cross?” the teacher continued.

“This sucks!” whispered Justine.

“You brought this to us!” complained Michelle, “Who else would think of shooting pencils at the ceiling?”

Justine gave off a little laugh while she looked up at the pencils, which were lodged tightly. She looked out the window to the building beside their class. That was the boys’ classroom. Ever since Zeke and Justine threw that food fight, the boys and girls had been separated. She looked at their window and saw Zeke waving to her with a brick in his hand. She grinned and returned the wave. Justine, Michelle, and Zeke all knew each other since they were children. Lately, Justine and Zeke have been dating each other. She watched him and he winked. All of the sudden, he jerked his head forward and yelled something. She then saw the boys’ class teacher yell at him. Zeke returned the yelling with a loud belch that even she heard. The teacher blushed, ran outside, and grabbed two more bricks. Justine laughed inside of herself. She liked Zeke, and, she knew, he liked her. It was just weird though, because they had been friends since they were children. Michelle sighed and rolled her eyes.

“You two are trouble when you’re together…”

They both had a heavy throbbing feeling in both of their arms now.

“It’s the same with us you know.” Justine said coolly, “You and I cause trouble all the time.”

Michelle smiled. This was true. There were much worse stunts than the amateurish “pencil-shooting”. There was that one time where they didn’t swallow for five minutes straight. There were huge globs of saliva in their mouths that they let drip on their desktops. Also that one time when they climbed up onto the boys’ classroom and made a huge hole when they fell in. Zeke was in on some too. During class, he helped them do things that they couldn’t do, such as be outside or buy those wooden slingshots that the nine year old kid sold. Michelle and Justine are close friends. However, one thing that Michelle couldn’t stand about her was that Justine, practically her sister, was falling in love with Zeke. Even worse, he was falling hard for her as well.

But, she put up with it. She gets weirded out whenever they start to make-out in front of her. Or was it jealousy? She did like someone, though. Her secret, not even Justine knows, is that she likes Zeke’s brother, Dex. He’s in the same class and only just one year older than him. Suddenly, the bell rang. Michelle was in her daydream about her and Dex. Justine nudged her.

“C’mon, let’s get out of here before…”

As if the teacher read Justine’s mind, she said “And just where do you two think you’re going?”

Michelle flinched.

“Out?” Justine asked.

“Did my lesson even get past your skulls? Hm?” she asked politely.

“About the cross? Sure.” Michelle replied, “We, uh, heard every bit.”

Justine smirked. Michelle was, of course, lying badly. Anyone can tell when she is. Her eyes get really big and she seems to shrink a little.

“You as well?” the teacher turned to Justine.

But she was somewhere else. She watched as Zeke walked out of the building. He caught her gaze and gestured her to come out.

“Justine!?!” the teacher shouted, “Are you with us?”

“Yeah, the cross…” she replied dumbly.

The teacher squinted her eyes at them. It felt like her gaze was piercing through their minds.

After about five seconds, the teacher said “Justine… you don’t act like a 19 yr old at all.”

Justine nodded.

“Alright. Leave the bricks there. You’ll probably need them tomorrow.”

“Ha, ha, ha…” Michelle thought.

As the two girls walked out, they heard her say, “I really hope you paid attention…”

What was her deal? Just outside, Justine turned to say goodbye to her teacher. She was looking right at Justine with deep sorrow in her eyes.

“Creepy.” Justine thought as the headed toward the schoolyard.

Finally out of that crappy boarding school. This was her favorite part of the day. When they met up with Zeke and his brother.
