Time and Unforeseen Occurrence
By: Mylinda Antoinette
Fate has a funny way of working sometimes. It will take two ordinary people, change their circumstances to become unusual, and then throw them together in what some call a cruel twist of fate. Unbeknownst to anyone, this was about to happen once again, though many would say it couldn’t happen to two nicer or more mature people.
Jessica Marie Butcher was an ordinary 24-year-old woman living in big city Dallas, Texas. But then again, she wasn’t really that normal. At 24, she was already a practicing maternity doctor at a nearby clinic. She had taken courses via mail so she could do them on her own time. After completing her courses three years later, she took a two year internship at a local hospital, after which she set up her practice at the clinic she now worked at. Even though she specialized in maternity, she was also certified to diagnose and treat other illnesses as well; despite this, she almost never worked outside of maternity. Her patients came to know her as a friend more than a doctor, and everyone who knew her, even the people who absolutely hated her, had to admit that she was one of the nicest people they had ever encountered, and she had a level of maturity that many didn’t have, even at her age.
Nathaniel Steven Mabry was a 27-year-old computer programmer. He had quickly moved up in status in his company due to his extensive knowledge of many programming languages. He held a position that put him only two or three positions away from being a senior staff member. All of the people who held positions higher than him, including the president of the company, had seen his personnel file, and they were amazed by his honesty, his kindness toward his coworkers, and his ability to work through any situation and still maintain a high level of productivity, staying calm whenever a problem popped up. He and Jessica had known each other for nearly ten years, and he had no clue that Jessica had liked him for almost the same amount of time. The catch was that she didn’t know that he felt the same way toward her either. But something was about to happen that would pull them together, though neither knew that fate was going to intervene- and in a more unusual way than ever before.
Chapter 1 will be up in a week if I get 3 reviews!
