i came home to find my parents out
the house buzzing with an alarm.
they had taken the harley for a ride.
i was jealous until the moment back.
my mother walked in with a helmet,
i walked out with it and took my place.
my father and i were gone in seconds.
we visited christopher and speed bumps,
saw bakers house and scattered winds.
we ended up behind a school bus
filled with elementary school kids.
i looked up to find them waving,
yelling hellos, making peace signs.
a little girl of seven gets off at her house,
holding a rabbit and forgetting her jacket
she runs back on the bus, back off,
and gives us a big smile and a goodbye
as we turn the other way and ride home.
