Chapter 6: What an Unpleasant Surprise

Outside shot of the school.
Keita: (offscreen) Here are your books.
Inside the classroom: The girls take their manga from Keita as he distributes them.
Girl 1: (smiling as she takes it from him) Thanks Keita-kun!
Girl 2: (hugging her books as she walks off, beaming and blushing) Ooh, I can’t wait to read these!
Girl 3: (already has her book open as she walks and reads) Omigawd! No way!
Girl 4: (looking over her shoulder) What, what??
Keita: (frowning; sweatdrop) … -sigh-
Hana comes up to Keita as soon as he finishes up.
Hana: (brow raised) So Keita, who was that guy in the auditorium?
Keita: (pauses) -…
Keita: (continues to clean up and arrange the desk; not looking up at her; sweatdrop) I don’t know.
Hana: (elbow on the desk, leaning closer) Oh? Is that so? I thought you would have known each other from the way you reacted.
Keita: (eyes closed as he remembers; sweatdrops) … There… was a spider crawling on my leg.
Hana: (brow still raised sceptically) Reeeally?
Keita: (defensively; sweatdrop) Yeah! I don’t like spiders so when I saw it, I bolted up in my seat!
Hana: (looking down at her nails) Is that why Sendo Tetsuya-senpai said,
Hana: (serious face up close to Keita’s) “I’ve finally found you.”
Keita: (blinks) …
Girl: (offscreen) That’s right Keita-kun.
Keita: (leaning forward; sweatdrop) Hey, stop making up stories about me again!
Hana: (looking at him, arms crossed) But this isn’t the first time that you’ve seen him, right?
Keita: (turns to look at Hana; sweatdrop) …
Hana: (arms crossed, looking self-assured; waiting for his reply)
Keita: (shoulders slumped, head bowed in defeat; sweatdrop) I’ve only bumped into him twice before! I don’t know that guy!
Hana: (turned away from Keita, facing front, arms crossed; smug smile on her face) Oh ho ho, I was right! You can’t hide any secrets from me Keita!
Keita: (watching her from behind; sweatdrop) That’s because you force it out of people…
-klak- (door slides open; offscreen)
Tetsuya: (looking at them) I’m looking for second year Nobu Keita from class 2-B-
From Tetsuya’s perspective: he spots Keita in the middle of the girls.
Tetsuya: (offscreen) Ah, there you are!
Keita: (eyes wide, petrified; sweatdrops cover his face) Eh?!
Tetsuya: (walks up to him; smiling) I’ve been looking for you everywhere.
Keita: (moving back, sweatdrop) H-how do you know my name?
The girls are still seated and watch the scene unfold in front of them, their heads moving back and forth between their conversation.
Tetsuya: (smiling at him) I asked a few students if they knew who that guy was who stood up in the middle of assembly.
Keita: (sweatdrops) …
A couple of the girls have taken snacks out and are munching on them as they watch the two boys interact.
Keita: (glaring at him) What are you doing in this school?
Tetsuya: (smiling, adjusting his glasses) I’m a student here of course. –glare- (sfx for the glint on his glasses)
Tetsuya: (getting more serious; smiling) You’ve already rejected me twice. Can’t you just give me a chance now that I’m here?
All the girls gasp. Keita whips his head around to their direction, realising that they have an audience.
Keita: (startled; stuttering, saying in his defence) I-it’s not what it seems!
Tetsuya: (slightly behind Keita, watching him; serious, frowning slightly) When you refused me after I asked you to be with me, my feelings were crushed.
Girls: (in the background going crazy; hearts of moe bursting from them (A/N: if you don’t know what that is, you need to look it up lol) KYAAA!!!!
Keita: (covering Tetsuya’s mouth with his hands; sweatdrops) SHUT UP! You’re embarrassing me! –I didn’t crush your feelings, I crushed your pride!-
Tetsuya smiles beneath Keita’s hands.
Tetsuya: (face up close to Keita’s; sly smile) To sleep with you.
Keita: (face drops and goes pale) …
Keita: (pushes him back, blushing slightly; ticked off) I don’t believe you! Who in the right mind would transfer to another school for something… like that?!
Tetsuya: (standing up straight, running his hand through his hair; looking down at him) Well, once I set my eyes on something, I rarely let that opportunity escape my sight.
Tetsuya: (peering over him, smiling) I’ve been looking for you for quite some time now. And now that I’ve found you, I won’t let you go.
Keita: (pointing at him, face in shock) S-S-STALKER!!
Hana: (turning to face Tetsuya) Although this has been a rather pleasant and unexpected visit from Sendo Tetsuya-senpai, as President of this club, you are not authorized to be in here. So I will have to unfortunately have to ask you to leave.
Keita: (whipping his head to face Hana; a smile breaking out across his face) Thank you Hana! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!
Tetsuya: (back facing front) Not unless of course…
Tetsuay: (face up close to Hana’s)
Hana: (raises her eyebrow questionably) Hmmmmm?
Tetsuya: (face serious) …I join your club.
Shot of Hana’s lips: a slow smirk breaks out.
Hana: Hmph.
Tetsuya: (looking down at Hana) What exactly is this club?
Keita: (pleading with Hana) Hana please, don’t do this!
Hana: (arms crossed, hardly paying attention to Keita; looking up at Tetsuya)
Hana: (steps aside; smirks) Heh.
Hana: (snaps her fingers) –snap!- Girls!
Party crackers are being burst open, spewing confetti and stringyness into the air.
-krak, krak!-
A huge banner is being unfurled and stretched out.
Two of the girls are holding the large banner from behind whereas the other two girls are standing in front of it, shaking their hands towards the large print that reads: YAOI. Confetti is still floating around them.
Girls: (smiling brightly; enthusiastic) Tada!
Tetsuya: (turning to Hana) This is a yaoi club?
Hana: (looking up at him) Yes.
Tetsuya: You read manga about boys doing *beep* and *beep*?
Hana: Yes.
Tetsuya: (glancing over at Keita; through his perspective) And he’s part of this club?
Keita: (freezes and sweatdrops) Geh-…
Hana: (putting her arm around Keita’s shoulder) Of course he is! Not only is he a member, he’s a hardcore and devoted reader too!
Keita: (weepy-eyed) Hana, stop it!
Keita: (squirming to get away from her) That’s it, I’m going to commit seppuku now!
Hana: (still has a firm grasp on him) Keita! There’s no shame in being yourself.
Tetsuya: (fingers cupping his chin, quietly observing them) I see now. Hana-san was it?
Hana and Keita pause to look up at him.
Both: Eh-
Tetsuya: (smiling at them) I will join your club.
Minoru is happily walking towards the gate.
Minoru: (pauses as he spots Hiroyuki in the distance) Eh?
Hiroyuki looks semi-dead as he aimlessly walks into a tree. Leaves fall down around him.
Minoru: (back of head shown; sweatdrop) Geez, what’s with that kid now.
Flashback of earlier that day: Lunch time.
There are a group of kids eating lunch on the roof. Hiroyuki is sitting amongst a circle of friends as Minoru passes by.
Hiroyuki: (staring straight ahead, eating from his bento, chopsticks to his mouth as he munches on a leaf that blew into his lunch) –munch, munch-
Guy next to him: (shielding himself as the wind blows) Geez, it’s windy today.
Guy 2: (looking at Hiroyuki in shock; sweatdrop) Aoyama! You’re eating a leaf!
Minoru: (glances at them; sweatdrops) …
Cut back to present:
Minoru: (frowns slightly and scratches his head) I wonder what could be bothering him now.
Minoru: (looks at his watch and continues on his way) Oh! I gotta get going! My lovelies await!
Hiroyuki walks into another tree in the background as more leaves flutter down around him.
Guys in the background stare at him: Hey man, are you all right?
Keita: (running rapidly down the hallway, bag in hand, face panic stricken) –fwooosh! Dadadadada!-
Hana: (head poking out of the doorway, watching Keita, frowning) Keeeita! You’re overreacting!
Keita: (still running, eyes closed shut) How could you betray me like that Hana? Accepting him on a whim without considering how I’d feel!
-rrrr, rrrr, vrrr, vrrr- (his cell rings and vibrates)
Keita: (he is outside and pauses to look down at his bag; a light is shining through it) Ah.
Keita flips open his cell phone and sees it’s a message from Minoru; it reads:
Keita! I’ll be waiting in front of the manga store at 4! See you there!
~Minoru.
Keita: (glances down at his watch- it reads 4:45; sweatdrop) Oh shit.
He scrolls down more and sees there is another message from him:
Keita you bastard! Sell me out will ya? You better have my books in mint condition or I’ll have your ass!
~Minoru.
Keita sweatdrops.
Keita: (runs around the corner and spots Minoru in the distance; sweatdrops) Oh shit, there he is. He must be pissed…
Keita: (running up to him) Minoru-
Minoru: (turning to him, cutting him off) Osoi! (You’re late!)
Keita: (hand behind his head, bowing slightly; sweatdrop) I know, I’m sorry-
Minoru: (finger to his face, looking stern) Don’t be late for me next time! I don’t like having to wait!
Keita: Sorry!
Minoru: (sighs and crosses his arms; glancing at him) You have something for me?
Keita: (confused) Eh?
Minoru: My manga!
Keita: (scrambling to look inside his bag) Ah! That’s right! I have it here… somewhere…
Minoru: (frowning slightly as he watches Keita) Geez, I feel sorry for whoever gets you as a boyfriend.
Keita: Ah, here it is!
Keita: (handing him his bag of books) Here.
Minoru: (taking it from him) So what took you so long to get here?
Keita: (looking at him in shock) What? You get mad at me because I’m late, but you’re fine if Hana’s the cause of it?
Minoru: (looking up at him) Of course. She has her duties to perform as President.
Keita: (hanging his head; sweatdrop) Geez, really!
Minoru: (standing in front of him) C’mon already, don’t get all mopey on me. I’ll treat you to a drink.
Minoru: (walking slightly ahead; back showing front) Heheh, you’re so easy to manipulate.
Keita: (following slightly behind; sweatdrop) You and Hana are of the same kind!
Minoru: Hey, great minds think alike!
Minoru: (starts to slurp up his drink, smiling happily) Mm! Yummy!
Keita: (sitting across from him; playing with his straw; frowning)
Minoru: (pauses and looks up at him) Okay, I know that I was mad at you for being late, but now you’re just being unpleasant to be around. What’s really bothering you?
Keita: (frowning still, watching foam slide down his straw as he lifts it up) You won’t take me seriously if I told you.
Minoru: (leans forward across the table on his elbows; giving him a serious face) Try me.
Keita: (looking back at him, pausing slightly) …
Keita: (lets go of his straw and watches it sink down slowly into his drink) I have a stalker.
Minoru: (chin resting on his arms, looking up at him curiously) Stalker? Is it a boy or girl?
Keita: (looking defensive) See, now you’re just making fun of me!
Minoru: (sitting up) No I’m not, in case if you’ve forgotten, I had a stalker too.
Keita: (perking up, looking at Minoru) “Had”?
Minoru: (drinking, nodding his head) Nn. (Yeah.)
Keita: (leaning forward on his elbows; surprised) You mean, Hiroyuki has given up on you?
Minoru: (looking up thoughtfully) Hmm, yes. Rather he’s moved onto another host to latch onto. (he thinks of a chibi image of Hiroyuki as a leech, sucking onto another chibi body)
Keita: (glancing down, saying quietly) Why would he do that…?
Minoru: (offscreen) What was that?
Keita: (looking up at him, startled) I mean, he was so adamant at winning your approval- he even threatened me!
Minoru: (laughing) People change. Hiroyuki’s growing up. He must have realised that it was just a silly crush and not real love.
Keita: (pauses) …then what’s the difference…? A crush can turn into love… can’t it?
Minoru: (one elbow on the table, chin resting in his hand) You seem pretty serious about those questions. Do you have a crush on someone?
Keita: (looks at him uneasily) I… don’t know…
Minoru: (slurping the rest of his drink; winking at him) If you have trouble figuring him out, just use me as a template; someone with my personality is a winner.
Keita: (glancing down as he sips his drink) …template eh…
Minoru: (offscreen) So what has your stalker done to have made you so upset?
Keita: (glancing up at him) Ah-… he transferred to my school…
Minoru: (surprised) Ehh? From which school?
Keita: X Academy High-
Minoru: (leaning forward, in shock) That prestigious high school?? That guy must be loaded!
Keita: (leaning back slightly; frowning, sweatdrop) That’s how everyone reacted when they found out.
Minoru: (sitting back down in his seat) He must really like you to have done that. –Or really creepy…-
Keita: (gripping his glass tightly, straw to his lips; brows creased, looking pissed) Like me? Ha! All he wants to do is use people as he wishes. People like that are the worst!
Keita: (frantically digging his cell out of his bag) Ah, my phone, my phone! Gotta answer it!
Minoru: (eyes narrowed slightly with suspicion) Hmmm…? Aren’t you just finding ways to avoid my question?
Meanwhile, outside:
Hiroyuki is walking aimlessly outside on the streets, his arms limp and swaying to and fro. His head is hanging low, feet lazily dragging on the concrete sidewalks.
-shrrrk, shrrrk- (dragging of his feet)
Hiroyuki: (shot of his bleak face, hair hanging in his face) Sendo-senpai… why’d you have to leave me…?
Someone bumps into him.
-thump-
Guy: (walking by him) Oi! Watch where you’re going!
Hiroyuki: (eyes widen in surprise) …!
Hiroyuki: (spins around, angry; yelling after him) Why don’t you watch where you’re going huhhhh???
Guy: (walking away, muttering; sweatdrop) Che, he’s friggin’ crazy.
Hiroyuki: (he is about to head on his way when he suddenly perks up; his eyes widen in surprise) …-
His hand starts to tremble.
Hiroyuki: (hand only shown; he inhales deeply) Hyaahh…
Shot from inside the café: Keita and Minoru are seated across from each other at a window seat. In the near distance outside is the frozen statuesque form of Hiroyuki, his mouth hanging wide open in shock, presumably screaming. There are people outside that have stopped and are staring at Hiroyuki.
Keita: (answering his cell; sweatdrop) Moshi mo-
Hana: (offscreen; yelling) KEITA!!
Angle shock of Keita with Hiroyuki still in the background. Hiroyuki is marching over towards the them; he looks mad.
Keita: (pulling the cell slightly away from his ear; sweatdrop) Ah, Hana-
Hana: (offscreen) Why’d you have to leave so suddenly?! I didn’t even give you the list of chores we had for you!
Keita: (annoyed) Didn’t you say that all new members had to go through this? Now you’re giving him special treatment?
Hana: (offscreen) I know I said that!
Minoru: (tapping on Keita’s arm; glancing out the window periodically as Hiroyuki’s presence is almost unavoidable) Oi, Keita! Hey! Quit ignoring me!
Hana: Oh, is that Minoru-kun? Tell him I said hi ~!
Keita: (snaps his head up, stares at Minoru)
Minoru: (pointing towards the window) There’s-
Keita: (irritated tone) Now is not the time!
Hana: (offscreen) What?! Now you’re not letting me say “hi” to Minoru-kun?!
Hiroyuki slaps his hands on the window and presses his face up against the glass, staring down at Keita and Minoru.
-DON!-
Keita: (turns to look and freaks out, dropping his cell) AHHH!!
Hana: (still chattering) I can’t believe you’re so mean Keita! He’s my friend too!
Minoru: (glancing over) That really is unflattering Hiroyuki-kun…
Keita: (standing up straight; snapping his cell shut; sweatdrop) –klak- I thought you said Hiroyuki stopped following you?
Minoru: (getting up to leave; sweatdrop) I thought so too… I guess it’s my own misfortune.
Keita and Minoru step outside and face Hiroyuki.
Keita: (back facing front; sweatdrop) Eh…
Hiroyuki: (slowly turns his face around to face them; ominous tone) You…!
Hiroyuki: (marching up to Keita; pissed)
Keita: (backing off slightly, hands held up defensively; sweatdrop) Even though you saw us together, really, we’re not together!
Minoru: (crossing his arms, looking off to the side) Pffft, no backbone.
Hiroyuki: Why does it always have to be… YOU?!
Keita and Minoru: (surprised) Huh?
Keita: (trying to stand up straight; sweatdrop) You mean… you’re not following Minoru around this time?
Hiroyuki: Of course not! What kind of person do you think I am?!
Minoru: (the look of disbelief on his face, smiling; sweatdrop) You’ve got to be kidding me…
Hiroyuki: (standing in front of Minoru, staring up at him in earnest; holding his hands) You’re a wonderful person Minoru, but I can see things between us just can’t work out. I’ve found someone else. Can you forgive me?
Minoru: (eyes closed; sweatdrop) Yeah…
Hiroyuki: (smiling) Really?
Minoru: (sweatdrop) Yes, I’m happy for you Hiroyuki-kun. Now let go of me. Please.
Hiroyuki: (dropping Minoru’s hands; turning away, smiling) Minoru-kun, my first love has given me his consent…
Hiroyuki: (suddenly pointing to Keita’s nose) …all there is is YOU in the way!
Keita: (blinks; sweatdrop) I still don’t understand what you’re talking about…
Hiroyuki: (stands back and stares at Minoru in hurt shock) Minoru-kun, you’re taking his side too…?
Minoru: (arms crossed; looking up; saying quietly) I wouldn’t consider choosing either side…
Keita: (looking at Minoru; sweatdrop) …
Hiroyuki: (turns around and runs away, arm to his face, sobbing) I can’t believe you’d do this to me Minoru-kun!! This is war Keita!!
Keita and Minoru: (watching him run off) …
Keita: Is he always like that…?
Minoru: Pretty much.
Voice: Excuse me.
Keita: (turning around) Hm?
Tetsuya: (standing in front of them; smiling sweetly) Keita, you took off so suddenly. –sparkle- (A/N: sparkly smile :D)
Keita: (angry) What are you doing here?
Minoru: (inspecting Tetsuya) Hmm…
Tetsuya: I’ve been looking for you all over town. Hana asked me to give you this list.
Tetsuay: (handing it to him) Here.
Keita: (snatching it from his grasp) –swipe!-
Minoru: (leaning over slightly to Keita’s side; still staring at Tetsuya; whispering) Is he your stalker?
Keita: (turning to face Minoru; sweatdrop) …
Minoru: (satisfied smile) Bingo.
Tetsuya: Do you want me to help you with that list, Keita?
Keita: (turning his head sharply back to face Tetsuya) No!
Keita: (grabbing Minoru’s arm briskly and walking off) We’ve gotta go!
Minoru: (surprised) At least introduce us!
Tetsuya: (slightly surprised, standing behind) I’ll see you tomorrow then Keita.
Tetsuya: (watching them go; back showing front) The more you try to get away…
Tetsuya: (face shown smiling; one of his lenses glared out) …the more I want you, Keita…
Minoru: (glancing behind him) I’d let him stalk me anytime, hehe.
Keita: (freezes)
Minoru: (walks into him) Ah- why’d you stop?
Keita: (not facing him) He’s… your type…?
Minoru: (finger to his chin, smiling) My type…? Hmm… it’s a bit difficult to say but he is pretty cute. (A/N: hehe Minoru :3)
Keita: (continuing to walk, hands in his pockets) Oh.
Minoru: By the way, what’s his name?
Cut to the next day: Shot of the outside of Keita’s school.
Voice: Sendo Tetsuya…?
Girl: (frowning slightly) Sorry, I’m not sure.
Boy standing in front of her, front not showing.
Hana: (walking up behind them) –step-
Hana: (seated, looking up at him, smiling) Ah, Keita.
The girls barely glance up and are huddled around a desk, chattering away.
Keita: (walking in, carrying two bags with him) Geez, you guys got a lot this time.
Hana: (stands up) I’d like to introduce you to another new member.
Keita: (pauses; sweatdrops) Another one? –Now another girl will know about me… sigh-
Someone pulls back their chair to get up.
-screech-
The same boy from earlier stands up, from the middle of the huddled girls.
Keita: (in the background looks shocked and drops the bags on the floor) WHAT THE HELL?!?!
The girls snaps their heads around, reacting to the sound of their books being dropped and lunge forward towards them.
Girls: Kyaaa!!!
Keita-kun!! What do you think you’re doing???
How careless Keita-kun! Watch what you’re doing!
If I find out that you’ve dented it, I’ll make you go back to the store right now to get me another copy!
They both stare at each other in a silent standoff as the girls act as a spazzing buffer, frantically searching for their books.
Hiroyuki: (dressed in the same uniform, stares at Keita coolly, smirking) Nobu Keita, I’m Aoyama Hiroyuki.
Hiroyuki: (close up of his face; smirking) Nice to meet you.
Keita: (frowning; sweatdrop) …
As for the turnout of events, lol, it was obvious and you guys all knew it was going to happen. Teehee :3.
I have been a bit busier, but at the same time, I share a computer so I don't get as much time on it as I would like (so I really need to get a lappy soon). I was also drawing a lot more and did some fanart for this webcomic that I read on DrunkDuck called "Get Up and Go!". I'll put the link of my DeviantArt page of that stuff on my id info. What else, what else...
Oh. I finished watching Kyou Kara Maou! and it was so hilarious and cute. Ah... in a way I didn't want it to end.
Omg, Yamada Tarou Monogatari was made into a live action! They changed it a lot too... but it was still funny.
And Death Note!!!!! Omg, D:::. !!! Light is pretty damned hot. But oh so cold... and eviilllll.
In other news, I found out last night that Toujou Asami passed away :'(. I was so choked cuz she is so incredibly talented; her artwork and stories are excellent. She was so young too --. One of the most memorable things that I can remember her doing was "Denkou Sekka Boys"- and I think one of the last things she worked on was the sequel to that, "Thunderbolt Boys: Excite".
Ah, sorry about the long after-post but you guys should check out her work. Most of her work inspired me too :(.
