A Visit To Wingdoodle
The place where the Yibber trees grow
One day I walked to a place,
That I thought had been erased,
Called Wingdoodle,
A place with oodles,
Of interesting things.
As I walked along a path,
I walked into a grove,
Of wonderful Yibber trees,
They are almost extinct you know.
They are yellow with color-changing spots,
Oh those delightful dots,
They are magnificent don’t ya’ know,
In the place where the Yibber trees grow.
I came upon a man,
But a man he was not,
He managed the Yibber trees,
And he took me to his cot.
He gave me some tea and bread,
And then with his voice filled with dread,
He told me with sorrow,
There may be no tomorrow,
For those poor Yibber trees.
“What do you mean?” I asked with dread as horrible thoughts,
filled my head.
They are cutting the Yibber tress down,
To make color-changing gowns,
And other things like that.
“That is horrible,” exclaimed I,
“they will make all of the Yibber trees die!”
“Yes it is so sad my friend,
but you can make them never do it again.”
But how? I solemnly wondered?
I do suppose I’ll try
Lest even more Yibber trees die.
And so I went off.
I went to the company,
And talked to them,
I told them my point again and again,
“The Yibber trees are dying!
The native folk are crying
They want their poor Yibber trees,
To thrive again.”
The company wouldn’t hear of it,
So I brought them to the grove,
The place where the Yibber trees grow.
They are almost extinct you know.
I showed them what they had done,
But the boss and his son,
Said they needed the business,
To get gifts for Christmas.
Live through the boiling sun.
They said they would try to stop,
If I could get their sales on top,
So I told them about yarn,
How I have it stored in a barn,
And that you can make things with it
So the Yibbers are protected now.
So now Wingdoodle,
Is not just Wingdoodle,
Its known for its grove,
And its called the place where the Yibber trees grow,
And if you ever happen to see one,
Let it grow,
Let it grow,
For they’re almost extinct you know.
