I hope you’re happy where you are

These tired eyes can’t see that far

And this separation won’t allow it

I hope you think of her when you wake up

Hope you know what it’s like to be in love

Despite the fact that you know nothing about it

And I can’t help but wonder how it will end

Selfishly anticipate the loss of all your friends

Sitting here knowing that that which breaks first bends

And I can see them bending

Further backward than anyone should ever have to

So I guess we’ve come quite far

But I could never be that loyal

I could never stay up all night when we both know

You don’t need me

Take a photograph and keep it by your bed side

You can listen to her voice but I’ll be lying next to you

And I can’t help but wonder how it will end

Selfishly anticipate the loss of all your friends

Sitting here knowing that that which breaks first bends

And I can see them bending

Further backward than I ever did

And here we are again

Contemplating carefully the meaning of “just friends”

But these kisses and carresses can’t lie to you

And even if you want them to

We both know it’s only so long before we both let go

Of these binding ends

And I can’t help but wonder how it will end

Selfishly anticipate the loss of all your friends

Sitting here knowing that that which breaks first bends

And I can see them bending

Further backward than you ever did
