I can no longer sleep
knowing that you are beside me.

an arms length away
sleeping, breathing, dreaming,
while the half moon hangs low
across the expanse of my eyes
that always leave people with
the impression, the misconception
that winter lies dormant in me

me- with the capability of frost bite,
harsh remarks
but you said I looked like summer
and spoke like spring
hair, sultry and rich
shorter than a song and longer than a kiss
and that makes my heart grow warm.
