stuttershake your way through saturday morning’s work shift while
trying to hide the after-effects of the night before (while you binge on
coffee & energy drinks and try not to slur your words too much)

five and a half hours. you get on the bus back home & you try not to throw up

no one is home.

you take a nap

-

still no one.

& so comes the second guessing and loneliness & the phones that never ring
(or the boyfriend that never calls) & the friends that are never around

so you sit all evening and watch tv & try not to pace too much or pull out too much hair

“it’s just another typical saturday,” you say
as you put yourself to bed
