Stumbling at the edge of the world and made drunken by daylight’s brilliance

The three precious words I said to you having wasted their significance

(Torn by your empty promises and my suicidal dreams of honesty)

My heart long-lost inside shadows of supposition and agony

You gave me a pair of battered wings and (unworthy?) I burned them

I sacrificed my heart and soul and watched you laugh as you tore them

Feeding each other illusion and lies until my doom ridden soul cried out for mercy

Somehow in my perfect exposure of the pain and shame, you looked away and damned me

Uncloaking your own blatant, abominable dishonesty and tattered assurances

Words cold and blinding of your (missing) love and commitments,

The darkest side of me should create only shadows when joined by love’s luminance

But it wasn’t enough to live and love (invisible never means it’s not there)

It wasn’t enough to be myself, and now...I’m not sure I care.

A/N: Dedicated to...Someone I thought I knew.
