i put graded cheese into her diet coke
i wrote “asshole” in the boxes of her crossword
she screams “fuck you”
is this what an adult should do?
screaming insults
sobbing softly
nails though hair
and i pull at my bed,
in anger
but it won't change anything.
tearing open the window,
i wish I could b r e a t h e
this pain away,
and claw my way up into the trees
wind caressing this pitiful frame.
upstairs, downstairs
fire, water
dark, light
what are we but two (blonde) opposites?

(i always thought diet coke tasted cheesy, anyway)
