I'm much too smart to conform
To their standards of success.
I'll make my own society, my own happiness,
My own world of truth and fear.
Inside of me a maelstrom rages
Sun winks out, then flashes into being
Again I grasp my pen and sing
Of stories yet untold but I'm afraid I'm not
So bold and yet I know that
I've lost my will to write
My poetry is formulaic,
Written to excite,
Depending on the rhyme
To guide my hand
As I destroy the concepts of
Love, sex, God, and death,
I require no instruction;
I can immolate myself
I'm much too smart
To trudge through life,
Be satiated;

Consternation decried,
I can walk on for days,
Knowing nothing inside
Makes me see through the haze
That I hold in my ball
Of excited release
Got to hate what you love
As your scruples decrease.
