She swallows sugar and scribbles solutions

Pausing more and more frequently

To immerse herself in thought.

Soon, the sugar and pen lay abandoned

A strand of dark hair strewn limply over both.

As the desk cools the skin of her face

Her mind burns with thoughts

Of how she was denied.

Her love disappeared

Into the sky.

She watched as he faded

Into a cloud

Never looking back

Never even saying

Good-bye.

The sugar makes her sick.

The floor tiles chill her,

Freezing her blood.

She shivers

But suffers.

The color is gone.

She never noticed

How much she loved it

Until it fled.

There is no life in her world.
