Hector and I were being driven home by Rick. It was a fairly quiet ride home until...

"What's the difference?"

Hector was riding shotgun and was staring at the dashboard. Rick and I glanced over in confusion, which I thought was a bad idea for Rick, as he was driving.

"What's the difference between you and a criminal?" Hector asked.

I sat and thought about it for a while and really didn't know... I mean, we both thought the same way, and we both try to think ahead of each other...

"Idiot!"

Rick hit the steering wheel with his palm.

"The difference between Jim and criminals is that Jimmy here doesn't run around killing people!!"

We laughed, but lying in bed later that night... I thought that might really be the truth. There was only one difference between criminals and me is that I don't kill people or steal from people or do illegal things. We both fought for what was right. The difference was how we fought for it...

I thought about it more, and wondered if Rick really knew what he said...
