Paint It Black

Color in swirling masses surround me,

A spiral of hues and shades.

Every color that flashes before me,

Summons a sickening memory;

My past awakening before my eyes.

The crimson of my loved ones bloody bodies,

Brown like the dirt I’ve slept in for so long,

Eternal white walls of hospitals,

And the green grass and golden sunshine

Of the days I can never return to.

Let’s paint it black,

And tuck the memories deep inside my mind.

Black. Numbing and cold, the dark is my friend.

So paint the world in darkness and let the colors be forgotten.
