Forever by Ryan Schiff
Forever is an ideal
That cannot be made real.
Forever? Never will it pass.
That which is forever never lasts.
All of those forever promises,
Those meant to last all time,
They crumble faster than this poem’s
Rapidly decaying lines.
Permanency may arise out from the ash
But fades and crumbles just as fast.
In due time, new permanency forms
In forms adored with second hand titles
Passed down from old futures,
Old permanencies,
Old friends,
Old love.
