Of Colors and of Shades
My mother taught me of the many colors of life
Such things cannot be cut away, no even a knife
In the scarlet red of infatuated love
She said don’t date that man until I am sure of
The undeniable fact that he is THE ONE
I was told that the grays of society is full of fun
But I should not follow when I know it is wrong
That in the run of life, I must keep strong
She showed me the yellow of being happily content
To be thankful for a life quite decent
I learned the pure blue of a cherishable friend
That no one at all could ever truly end
She showed me the green of diligent works
That always comes along with freedom’s perks
She taught me the whites of unconditional love
For those who need it most from above
She spoke purple for standing for what I believe in
Even though I can’t always score win
My mother me of colors and of shades
In my memory such thing never fades
