“Lying in the
Battlefield”
by Syne27
You want to forget,
just as much I want to know.
Tried to bury the past, and wash away
that crimson hue.
But you left one body lying in the
battlefield.
You might not know it, but you’re a corpse, too.
Tell me about the
battles. Where you scared?
Remind me of my father – the one that
I never had.
Let me know the horror you saw those years.
Show
me all of the nations – the good and the bad.
I want to know the
details of my own life.
Tried to bury the doubt, and live on
without you,
But you left one body lying in the battlefield.
You
might not know it, but I’m a corpse, too.
Remind me of why I’m
here all alone.
Let me know if you might come home someday.
Show
me the way to find you if I need to.
Tell me “It’s alright,
son.” Tell me “one day”.
You wanted to forget –
and that included me.
Tried to bury the past, but the pain only
grew.
‘Cause you left one body lying in the battlefield.
You
might not know it, but you’re a corpse, too.
Let me know all about
your secrets.
Show me your method, to block the pain out.
Tell
me everything, so I can forget too.
Remind me nothing: I don’t
want to hear you shout.
I wanted to remember,
at least until I knew.
Tried to bury the doubt, when it came
anew.
‘Cause you left one body lying in the battlefield.
You
might not know it, but you killed me, too.
