Love, the Painkiller

It takes away the pain long enoughTo live it out, stake it out
Until the trip reaches its final destination,
More costly than the price of transportation
You ain't never gonna wake if you live this way
Day to day,
Using the same bandages
That cover the wound which is waiting
For a stitch
Or two
But it takes away the pain
So I don't have to think of it,
Of
You
I can't think of you when I'm high up in
The clouds, moving in, settling, waiting
To let out the rain and thunder
On this lonely, chilled night,
No more pain-killing
It's the only thing that kept me back
That stole you from me
And I'm sorry, for it's my karma
You were my pain-killer,
But I took too much
