Everything is dark.
The blackness seemed almost solid to my eyes. I reach out to test my theory but only discover that I wasn't alone. A hand suddenly gripped my wrist in a tight vice. I gasp in a combined feeling of fear and pain and wrench my arm away. A low voice spoke softly in the darkness, "You fear me" "This is a nightmare..." I reply, not even sure about my own words. A growl escaped from the man in the dark as I back away and turn to run. But how can you run in the dark? Was I even running at all?
It wasn't long before I hit something hard. A bed... my bed? I recognized my pillows instantly as I froze over them. Where was he? The monster in my room. I felt his breath on the nap of my neck and whirled around. Bad idea... He shoves me onto my bed and pounces atop of me with a snarl. The window suddenly bursts open, letting the moonlight flood the room with it's silvery light. A harsh cold breeze sweeps though the room, blowing the curtains madly as it knocking over things on the shelves. I could see his face more clearly now... soft and pale as the moonlight but yet as dark and sinister as his voice. His fangs gleamed with his smile as he leaned in closer, "Don't bother to scream if you think this is a dream."
"But it is... isn't it?"
I remembered something about dreams then. Supposedly you can take control of them once you realize it's not real. But if that was so, why was he still here?
He laughs as if he was reading my thoughts, such an evil laugh. The wind dies and everything became eerily still. He licks my neck gently and whispers, "Only if you wish it so." Then came the bite.
I wake up screaming and gasping for air. It really was a dream but the pain felt so real! I clutch my neck, remembering the feeling of the man's teeth piercing my skin. Oddly enough, I jump out of bed and run to the bathroom mirror. Through the sudden dizziness of getting up too quickly, I see no marks on my skin... Not one at all.
