Animalistic impulse demands my heart race,

Every time you chance pass my way.

Gravity fails any comparison by far,

To the attraction we suffer.

Comfort allows the best of circumstances,

Though we still manage an awkward silence.

There’s an unspeakable bond, I feel,

Rumors flare, the wildfire surrounding us,

Do you feel this too?

Subtleties lead me on, and on, constantly,

There’s never anything too obvious,

Your barely-there affections are questionable

And on more occasions than one.

Were they affections at all?

Or merely misleading fancies put together

By my quixotic, eager mind.

In any case, the stakes have risen…

I feel as though it’s all or nothing?

But I just can’t say

We can’t be friends anymore,

Those words are a knife slashing my heart,

And I’m not prone to self-infliction.

Patience is a virtue, a game that worked before,

Though courage can be admirable to.

Should I be ready to dive off the cliff

Plunging into the waters of uncertainty.

Pandora toys with me, her wiles are wicked,

Tricks, and demons, leaping from her box…

Their only purpose to torture me.

Wait. A game I play well.

Maybe this time, risks will prove worthy,

And maybe boldness will angle in my favor.

Be honest, object of my attentions,

Do you want this for you too?
