Watching TV

A/N: This poem was based on the poem called "Tuesday, 9:00AM" by Dave Butson. He uses descripted verbs and allegories/conotations/clichés/adjectives, etc., incorporated in his poem. We had to do the same thing with an everyday activity.

They slump over the torn,

Ancient wrinkled leather couch.

Laying, carelessly, stretched out.

They turn their head to the Master.

Light overpowers the dark,

Brightening the tiny room.

All eyes are peeled to the screen,

Images flash and vanish,

Casting an array of colors

Into the walls of shadow.

Frozen into place, as statues,

They are hypnotized by the Master,

Drool dripping in corners of mouths.

As they gape at the plasma screen.

Hours fly by as the clock ticks.

The Master holds them in his control.

Night steals the light from day.

They regain their senses slowly.

One last worship to the Master,

Then they groggily leave the room

And trudge to their beds,

Where they close their eyelids

And dream of the next time

They can watch their Master again.
