Girl in the Back Row

Verse 1:

Can you define me, in a single word?

Are there a few syllables known to man, that can sum up my worth?

In the great scheme of life, do you know my right path?

What’s in a name, can you tell me that?

Bridge:

Look up from your own selfish being,

And tell me truthfully, what it is you’re really seeing.

Chorus:

You judge before you get to know, the person I could be.

You don’t care what’s on my mind, you assume too easily.

My heart is full of love and hope, but that you’ll never know.

Life’s lessons quickly learned, from the girl in the back row.

Verse 2:

Did you know that though I’m quiet, I can scream like the devil?

Can you see beyond the smile, see the scars of a soul dishevelled?

Do you know the colour of my eyes, or that I love to dance in the rain?

Do you know what makes me laugh; can you tell when I’m in pain?

(Bridge)

(Chorus)

Verse 3:

What is under the skin I carry, like a cross on my back?

Do you care to know the person, under the imperfections of all that?

Close your eyes for a change, and look with only your heart.

I’m not what I appear, and I refuse to play that part.

(Chorus 2x)

Last Line: (after chorus)

Dare you to define me, in a single word…
