These intimidating walls
Built by those pure
So much a prison
To keep the pious ones in
And the worldly beings out.
What does this say of our faiths?
When one preaches equality
Without adversity,
Yet they judge those who see,
Through different eyes,
What these pure have taught for centuries.
How much is it to ask for?
To let it slide, on this day of memoriam
That one may sit in their home
Away from the stolid walls
And colored glass,
Comfortably remembering,
That there can be peace,
And there can be love,
And it can be, because of one
Great man, that we band together,
Or in solitude, and we can smile.
Because in our lonely hearts, we know,
Despite our beliefs in godly, spiritual beings,
Real or fiction,
We do believe in the power of ourselves
And others.
