Legend of Hadar

.
There he was. His monstrous black and red back facing me. I had been chasing him for weeks, no sleep, no food, just chasing him. And now I finally had the advantage, for there he was, his back to me and oblivious to my presence for the first time. Funny really, for this was the first time that he didn't know where I was, yet I was watching him. But he couldn't see me if he turned around anyway, for I was invisible. A power given to me, along with many others, by my best friend. I never had a best friend before, I always thought that he would understand me perfectly, but he really doesn't. That's because he is now a sword, that's right, my best friend is a sword. It's been many thousands of years since he was a man. So long ago that he doesn't remember what it's I lifted the cold blade up in front of me, I looked into the light, thin blade and I thought that for a moment that I saw his face.
"I knew that you would come to me." An evil, deep voice boomed across the room.
"How did he notice me?"

"The Master's apprentices are getting worse and worse. Time to end our little game, you have survived long enough, even with that weapon." His huge yellow eyes looked with disdain at the blade I held.
I raised the blade in front of me, "You have haunted my steps for too long, now it's over."
With that I jumped at him, blade first, more like flew actually, the sword easily cutting through the hideous ax he carried. Only pure luck saved my life that day, out of reflex I spun the sword around behind me, the blade blocking a chopping swing aimed for my neck. I had been talking to an illusion, the real monster had been behind me the whole time! I flew across the room from the impact, spun around in mid air and flew back at the real monster this time. Time itself is even controlled by the sword. For then everything around me seemed to slow way down, while I moved at the same speed. I easily parried the axe blow and countered with five quick slashes that sent him reeling back from the attack. At my thought the sword blade turned to fire in front of me, and for once I thought I saw fear in my arch enemies' yellow eyes. I swung at his mighty axe with such force that it cut the demon possessed weapon in half. Without losing momentum, time slowed down again and I flew blade first at my enemy. The flaming blade drove straight through his spell enhanced armor, and went clean out the demon's back, flames shooting out every open part of his enchanted armor. With a gust of wind his body disappeared, leaving only his armor as remains.
"Good job." I heard in my head.
"thanks" I replied.
I still visit the armor, it symbolizes the start of my great adventure. For this is my story, and the fall of the Beast is where it all started...

Year 2873:
"Don't move!" I stood there casually, my back facing the marine.
"Put your hands in the air and turn around slowly!" I watched his shocked face as I disappeared in front of him. He immediately pulled up his G47F2 Carbine and opened fire at where I was. Time slowed down. The sword appeared in front of me. I saw the bullets coming at me and knocked the first three out of the air with my sword blade. I back flipped over five more and chopped another one in half, the shards coming inches from my face. I flew across the room, blade first. I became visible again right about the time when the guard's headless body hit the ground. I had to destroy this starship fast or all would be lost. I Checked my gear, making sure I still had 25 pounds of plastic explosives on me. The door down the corridor hissed as it opened and 12 more guards came charging in, carbines firing. I reached to my two holsters and pulled out my two MR42 pistols and opened fire. I blew holes in the first three guard's chests, hit the next one in the leg, and hit the next one in the neck, disintegrating his head. I shot the next two shots right in the middle of the remaining seven. Both bullets blew up on contact, sending the remaining guards flying through the air. Time slowed down again and I saw I virtual wall of bullets coming my way. My sword appeared in front of me and I called out to Slyvain. An invisible shield stopped the bullets from reaching me, and they all fell to the ground. "You must reach their command deck or all is lost."
"Working on it." I replied and ran down the next corridor...
