The Lost Sorcerer
Chapter one
Sunlight shone through the many stained glass windows, throwing patches of colored light on the marble floor of the great throne room, as Maldun, king of Dandar, finished discussing with his town's leaders.
"...very good, be on your way now."
"Yes my lord." They said with a bow, then left. As they were leaving, a man of short stature approached the king and bowed.
"A visitor for you, my lord."
"Where from and of what business?"
"From Talonar and he says that he is an old friend and that you would know him."
"Hmm...Very well, show him in."
King Maldun motioned to his guards and they stood ready.
The man stepped to the side and a tall and slender man wearing a black, somewhat tattered cloak with a hood, strolled calmly to the king. Everyone in the room was obviously uneasy, for the visitor had not bowed nor shown any respect to the king.
"What brings you here to my palace, good sir? You say that you are an old friend, from where would I know you?" the king asked in a low, slightly unsettled tone.
"You would not know me," Said the man, "But you would know my family that you murdered during the war." There was a slight pause and the king was quite troubled by such a grand statement. "I," continued the man "am Nour Micailan."
At this the king gained a look of horror and all of the guards raised their spears and pointed them at Nour, for he had a reputation of being a merciless killer.
Nour raised his hand in front of him, towards the king, and said
"And I have come to make things right between us."
Just then a fireball flew at the king from Nour's hand, instantly covering the king in fire. All of the guards charged at Nour, the first four came from the side of the king and stabbed at him with their spears, Nour surrounded himself in a transparent shield and the spears shattered when they hit it. Nour then, summoned an arcane force to throw the guards across the room, away from him. The next four came from behind; and as they approached they were shot with electricity. All this time Nour just stood there, arms folded and head low. By now the other eight had reached Nour, four at his right and the other four at his left. Two of the four on both sides came at him and attacked him. Nour, using an arcane power sent all of them through the air and across the room. Nour then turned around and left. When he was walking out the door the guards stationed outside the door looked into the throne room and saw what had happened.
"Hey, you!" shouted one of the guards as he turned around "Halt, get back here!"
Both the guards ran at Nour and when they got to him they were thrown against the wall gripping their throats and gasping for air. Nour kept walking and soon the guards stopped struggling and fell to the floor.
Nour left the palace and went into the city; Dimethria, the capital city of Dandar, which was quite extensive. The city itself was rather plain; unlike Leonna, the capital of Talonar, the palace of Dimethria definitely stuck out, it was the only appealing building there was. Even the temple to their god, Malicadekk was plain and simple. Nour made his way down one of the many streets to the nearest inn and entered. When he stepped in, the inn keeper who was behind the bar, asked
"Wha' would ye like t' day, suh?"
"Gin...your finest," said Nour as he was walking to the back of the main dining room. He just sat at his table for a while and when the servant girl came with his gin began slowly drinking it. He thought back on when he was in the great army of Talonar; he was a general, the lead strategist, everything was fine until the war broke out.
"I will never forget that war," he thought ”The war between Talonar to the North-west, Dandar to the south and Sylinon to the North-east, had ended four years ago, had it really been that long? It had been going for eleven years and I almost wish it hadn't ended. I had a house, wife and three kids before the war took them. Nour took on a look of disgust and hatred, "The raid was led by king Maldun Kolanus himself, he deserved what he got today, and then some."
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the inn door flying open, he looked up and saw a small division of soldiers coming in.
"Oh great, more solders to kill" he thought sarcastically.
But the solders weren’t there to look for him, they were there to gamble and drink, which is what they immediately proceeded to do. The main room was no longer quiet, it had gotten loud, too loud for Nour's liking. A few hours had passed and Nour was still sipping on the same tankard of gin with his head low just thinking, when one of the solders decided to ask if Nour wanted to gamble with them.
"Hey, you, over there, you wanna play cards?"
"No," replied Nour, "I don't waste money."
The soldier was rather shocked by Nour's reply, mostly because he was half drunk.
"Don't waste money," said the soldier mockingly as he got up, "Thazz funny."
Everyone in the room got quiet and anxious as to what would happen next. The soldier was walking over to Nour's table and said,
"Why not man it's not like..."
"Leave me alone." Interrupted Nour, "For your own sake, go away."
"For my own sake? This guy's funny isn't h..."
Nour started to choke the soldier, using his magic.
"I said, Leave me alone." All of the other soldiers were startled and gripped their swords. The one soldier that was being choked then flew across the room and hit the wall. Everyone was too shocked to do anything about the unconscious soldier, they just stared in amazement.
"I had heard rumors that Nour had come, but I didn't think I would actually see him!" said one of the soldiers as he got up and ran out of the inn. Nour got up walked over to the inn keeper...
"How much do I owe you?"
"Nuh, nothin', suh, ye cin have it fuh free."
Nour reached into his pocket, produced a few silver coins and handed them to the inn keeper.
"Ye 'r vury gen'rus, suh." Said the inn keeper as he took the coins.
Nour left the inn, and the city altogether. He went into the near-by forest where he sat down against a tree to sleep for the night.

Nour awoke in the night, the moon was high, and it was quite cool, something had moved in the bushes that woke him. He looked around, studying every part of everything that surrounded him. There it was again, and then he saw what it was, a little bunny.
"Stupid rabbit" he thought.
He then went back to sleep.
The rising sun woke him up again, and he got up and looked around him to find a source of food, ah there, a bird's nest. Nour raised his hand in the direction of the nest and pulled it toward him with his magic, when it got close enough he grabbed it, took three of the five small off-white eggs and then put the nest back in the tree. He pulled out an undersized pan from somewhere in the deep recesses of his cloak. He cracked the eggs into the pan and stirred them up with his knife then held the pan in front of him, put his other hand under the pan, created fire in that hand and began frying the eggs. When the eggs were done he ate them and began the long trek to Sylinon, north-east of Dandar, for he had a score to settle with one of the generals there. He started walking and then remembered his newly discovered skill that he calls "Speed levitation". It is where he hovers a few inches off the ground and travels very fast, faster then any animal; and that is what he proceeded to do.
