He was real to me

That man in the glass

I used to know.

He was real to me

Though I don’t see him

Anymore.

That man in the glass

With his top hat and tails

Tapping a tune.

He taught me

That just living

Is enough.

Just living

Is enough

For him.

Life

Is not enough

To make me happy.

He was real to me

That man in the glass

Tapping his way through hardship.

He was real to me…

Perhaps one day,

I’ll see him again.

A dark cloud

Has obscured

His mirror.

I want to see him again,

But I don’t think

Any action of mine will bring him back.

I miss him,

That man in the glass

Who only I knew.

He was real to me,

But…

Who can tell?
