Dancing on strings
Dreaming of wings
He’s whispering for screams
While laughing at her dreams

He’s called her weak
He’s called her scared
Even the always rare ‘beautiful’
His one and only, his favorite thing

She never complains
She simply obeys
With a broken smile
and shattered soul

He acts coldly
Never are his words loving
Never does he show her warmth
Yet, she loves him with all all her heart

Then it got out of hand
He went too far
It broke her heart even more
But, he’ll never know

She took the beating
Crying and pleading
For his anger to dwindle,
She couldn’t wait for it to end

He refused to listen
Went on with the beating
Screaming insults
So terribly cruel

When he finally calmed down

He broke down to his knees
Cursing himself
Despising his deeds

She loved him so
She wanted to make him happy
She smiled when she was broken
Even though she was dead inside

Her eyes became glassy and dull
Her breathing now shallow
It was over in seconds
He held her near all the while

after she was finally gone
He kissed her for the first time
‘Goodbye my love… If only you knew
How much I’d truly loved you. If only you knew’

END
