although the sun shines on the beach, it cannot warm your soul.
aesthetics don't mean anything -- just look inside a pearl:

a sandy weight that drags you to the bottom of the sea,
a grain, a heart, a rigid thing that rots within a pearl.

and when they pluck it from its bed, should it feel glad to go?
soon threaded through a silver string with other captured pearls.

among the beauties of the sea lie iridescent globes,
but earth has better stones to bring, than you inside the pearl.
