Another Summary:
Katlee wasn’t just any lie. She was the Lie that was to save Rendol kingdoms. She was the Deception that was to change the lives of those around her. She was the Disguise that was to reveal the Truth. This story is fantasy/angst/romance/suspense in a nice package……….with some humor chunked in there for flavor.
Disclaimer: Yes I own this story and its characters. I am not afraid of using cruel and unusual punishments such as drowning violators in whipped cream. No not the good kind, the Reddi kind found in a can. That’s right the horrors of canned whipped cream will be upon you!
Oh also I warn thee that my grammar is so so. I am a close friend of the comma and sometimes friend of misspelled words….I will use a checker but the computer is only so smart...yes that's right I'm blaming it on the computer!
PART ONE: THE LIE
Lie. Such a powerful word for just three letters. Lie. Such a simple concept but not one
easily achieved and capable of producing intense results once uttered out loud.
Either you can or can’t Lie. The key to pulling off a Lie is Deception. Deception is
the only thing one needs in life to pull off great feats. Unfortunately Deception is
harder to get away with than Lying. In order to Deceive one or more people one
must first use the art of Disguise. You must Disguise not only the Truth of your heart
from others but your reasons for doing so as well. The key to them all is to tell just enough
of the Truth to get away with the Lie that is Disguised within through the act of Deception.
Confusing, is it not? Of course it is and that is wherein the problems lie. You see if
you’re bad at it than any Trust given to you is stripped away by those around you.
And if you’re good at it than you must be very careful not to falter along the way
because if you’re caught than you’ll be worse off than if you had been bad at it.
If you are great at it, than that is the greatest sorrow of them all because if your
great at telling the Lie, the art of Deception, and the Disguise of them both than
you are already Lying to yourself if you think no one will see past it. Because there
is one thing that ruins a Lie. There is one thing a Lie can not hide from and that is Love.
And that is the Truth of a Lie.
Lord Nor Velkeen Ruler of the Wise
Prolouge Two years earlier...
Running. Burning. Ripping. Feelings and emotions so strong they tore through her fragile
body causing her to forget how to breathe properly. Her chest getting tighter with fear.
No longer could she think in cohesive sentences. No longer could she call up enough strength
to fight. So she did the only thing she could. She collapsed into a ball on the wet forest ground.
Curling her ravaged form up as small as she could manage. Now beyond the point of recognizing
one pain from another. Everywhere. Her whole body quivered as coldness seeped through every
orifice, attaching itself like an hungry leach onto her bruised skin. Every body part
soaked in soreness from the abuse in which it had suffered. Sure she had survived, but at
what cost. Sometimes the cost is too high to bear. And the price for surviving this time would
no doubt be apiece of her sanity. She was tired, too tired to go any further. She felt a fresh batch
of tears fall from her swollen eyes. They will be the last that will ever do so she vowed silently
before blackening out.
A few hours later a small group of people arrived to where the girl laid. The distress was clear upon their faces and one of the men picked up her torn body. They all silently prayed that the tramua would not prevent her from living a normal sixteen year old's life. They were not her family. All of those people had long since been put into their graves but they all hoped that she would welcome their love in time. Once she learned of who they were and who she was they knew she would not be pleased. She would not understand at first why they let such horrors fall at her feet, if they had known before hand what was going to happen. They knew she would blame them for not coming to her aide and her town's butt it was what had to be. They also knew that she was their hope for the future and the future of all Rendol. Turning they quickly they fled to their kingdom of secrets, eager to began raising the girl.
