Here

Close your eyes and breathe the silence

like the taste of smoke at night,

- -

or the feel of fur against your skin,

the smell of snow in dawn’s half-light,

- -

when your smile’s a shadow

glimpsed through fog,

- -

and ambition’s a rumor

you never believed,

- -

your every cell crying

for the beautiful present,

- -

how could you ever desire to leave?

- -

Just something I wrote for school that I’m rather proud of. I broke all of the writing prompt rules, but it is, I think, the best work I’ve done. I’m still kinda fiddling with the grammar, so if you review (hint hint) please tell me if you think there’s a way it could work better.
