One Window
By E.B. Keane-Farrell
One window is all I need,
A window of opportunity,
A chance not to bleed.
To be able to let my emotions loose,
To prove myself,
To let them see.
Unfeeling and unwelcome,
Unknown and unsafe.
To let the world know
That I’m not ungrateful,
I’m not untruthful,
But all I want to do
Is to love and be loved in return.
One window is all I need
To let everybody see
And to shout out,
“I am me
And that’s all I’ll ever be.”
