Afraid to turn out the lights
Before I go to bed,
Afraid of the nightmares
That get into my head.
Always being watched,
Always being chased,
Afraid of once again
Waking up to a scream,
My scream,
And being covered in sweat.
Always being hunted down,
Always being found.
Afraid that one day it will be reality,
Afraid all will be lost,
And all I can do is wake up and fall back asleep
So it can happen all over again.
