“Armageddon”

Walking lightly in the heat,

An unnamed soldier

Trudges slowly through the mud

The dry desert sand

He spots the enemy hiding behind a rock

The battle begins

Screaming bullets cut through the air

Blood pours from a wound

He sees his friend drop down beside him

“We’ve got a man down!”

He shouts with despair, to no avail

“EACH MAN FOR HIMSELF!”

Is the brutal cry of the sergeant.

The next thing he sees

The mourning soldier empties shots upon

For his deceased friend.

With defenses up at constant glance

Will our war ever end?
