Why She Cries
April 16, 2007
The sorrow consumes her
Tears fill her tired eyes
How long will this go on?
Feels like forever
Her mind protests
Tries to tell her she is worth something
To think positive
It tries and hopes in vain
Tears slip down her cheeks
Her eyes overflowing
She cries silently in grief
Not willing to give herself away
She cries for her loss
The loss of her friend
Her other half
The one she misses like no other
She cries for the friends she has now
Those she holds dear
Not willing to let go
Part of her not wanting to hold on
She cries for herself
For the shame she fills
The hurt, the guilt
Wishes the pain would all go away
She can’t make herself stop now
Can’t stop the tears from falling
They flow in rivers down her face
Unyielding to her want
Finally she stops
Emptiness consumes her
She’s numb inside now
Feels nothing
Life goes on
A while before she breaks down again
Before she cries again
It’s harder every time
Sometimes the tears refuse to come
That’s when it hurts the most
When she needs to cry
But can’t
She cries to stay alive
To know that she’s not hollow
With nothing on the inside
That it’s possible to feel something
But eventually something snaps
And her eyes fill once again
With tears unshed
The blissful hurt returns
Ashamed at her behavior
No reason for the tears to fall
Refuses to let others in
But even she doesn’t know why she cries
