Inferas Mysteries

Chapter 1: The History

"Inferas is a town built off a castle that was built here. This castle and the town were first established back when the colonists settled in North America, and spread northward, and they built it near the coast in Massachusetts. Since these pilgrims were under British control still, the British inhabited the castle, and they ruled from in there. The castle was where the British Governor lived, along with his guards and everything. They lived like this for a while.
“That was, until talk of Revolution began. The townspeople revolted, and waged war against the British. The town’s people ran to the castle with their guns. On the first day of battle, five townspeople and three British were dead. The landscape was torn with fire, canon balls, and ammunition. Even the castle had suffered damages for the repeated barrage of canon balls firing at it,” began a blond-haired girl named Caitlin Wilson.

“The local militia stormed the castle, going out on a total massacre on the first floor. Despite the fact that they were only taking over one floor, and that there were many more, the militia concurred it within three days. With that blood bath over with, they set up their gatherings on the ground floor, discussing strategies on how to take over the rest of the castle. They kept this up for a day.
“After that day of strategy, the militia broke up into two separate groups. One group was to take over the dungeon floors underneath, while the other was for overtaking the upstairs floors and to start towards the towers. The militia leading downstairs started off first, getting in another bloody battle, though this time, not to their advantage. This group had to retreat to the first floor,” continued a brown-haired girl named Julie Milrock.

“While this was happening, the second group led the way upstairs. They then killed off the enemy slowly. This was because the British managed to hide themselves well upstairs as the group tried to take them over. This battle here waged on longer than the fight for the first floor. This fight lasted for a week, just to clear off part of the second floor, and a second week for the other part.
“Despite the slow progress, the other group started having better successes. They took back the dungeons, slowly, but surely. However, the higher up the other militia went, they found there to be less and less British soldiers as the dungeons went further down. The dungeons only had three floors to them,” told a blond-haired boy named Michael Kelby.

“Both groups continued this massacre, trying to re-take the castle. Both managed to take over what they were supposed to within three months. Upon finishing their individual work, they set their eyes on the towers. However, the towers had canons planted on them, so it was going to be harder for the militia to overcome this part of the castle. Even though there were only four towers to take control.
“Despite the troubles, each tower only took a day for the resistance to seize it. Day by day, the towers would fall back to the hands of the townspeople. With heavy causalities, the resistance won the battle against the British. They then started up a campaign to clean out the castle, taking all injured or wounded people to a nearby infirmary for treatment,” ended a brown-haired boy named Matthew Herbert.

As soon as Matthew finished talking, the entire class erupted with clapping. The small group smiled to themselves as they quickly went back to their individual seats. Mrs. Jensey started to talk as they did so, “Well done, well done. That was an excellent report. Now, let’s get…”

Suddenly, the final bell rang during Mrs. Jensey’s short comment. This bell signaled the end of the usually long, and potentially boring, school day. She shook her head slowly. “Ah, oh well. I’ll see all of you tomorrow,” she said to them as she walked back to her desk in front of the class.

Everyone in the classroom got out of their chairs, and started to head for the door. Caitlin, Julie, Michael, and Matthew all said goodbye to each other for the time being. As they left, Caitlin and Julie walked with each other. Michael went off to see a friend. Matthew walked alone to his locker.

While Julie and Caitlin were walking together, they were discussing a party that would be going on tomorrow.

“So, whose house is this party going to be at again?” asked Caitlin.

“Catie, I’ve told you before at Eric Dunswroth’s house,” Julie replied.

“I know that you’ve told me before, it’s just that Eric really isn’t my favorite person to be around,” Caitlin stated with a displeasing look.

“I agree with you on that, but what can we do? Most of the kids from our grade are going, so why should we be the only ones not going? Besides, you know damn well that his parties are better than most people’s,” Julie retorted.

Caitlin shrugged, “True, but let’s try not to talk to him.”

Julie giggled, and nodded. “Sure, why not?”

“Yeah,” Caitlin replied as the two girls walked with each other. “I hope he doesn’t do anything stupid there like usual.”

Julie grinned, “Knowing him he probably will.”

“Yeah, he always does crazy crap,” Caitlin agreed. After a few moments of silence, she looked over at Julie with a questionable look. “Do you know if Rob and Matthew know about it?”

Julie thought for a second, “I’m not too sure.”

Oh,” Caitlin said. “Just to be safe, we should tell them.”

“Yeah. I’ll tell Rob when I see him later today,” Julie said quickly. “Maybe you could tell Matthew about it?”

Caitlin looked away for a moment to hide the sudden grin that erupted on her face. She looked back to her friend. “I will,” she stated.

The two girls continued to walk through the hallways of the school, with other students passing by them. After a few moments, Caitlin stopped walking near her locker. She looked over at Julie, “I’ll see you tomorrow Julie, bye for now.”

Julie smiled lightly to her friend. “Right, bye,” she said. Julie continued walking down the hallway to her own locker.

Caitlin turned to her locker as she left Julie. She spent a few seconds opening up the locker door and threw her books in the clean locker. Caitlin managed to keep her locker relatively clean but there were those times when it did get occasionally messy, but it wasn’t that often. It definitely wasn’t as often as it appeared to be with most of the students in the school. But, who was she to start complaining on how the other students kept their lockers? She shook her head lightly, and closed her locker door. After doing so, she started to walk to the front doors of the school. As she did, she began to think about the soon-to-be party that she would be attending to the next day. ‘That figures that I would be the one to tell Matthew about it. After all, it appeared as if Julie and Rob had good chemistry with each other. But, I won’t start complaining about it. I truly have nothing bad against Matthew, she thought to herself.
