A fifteen year old girl
Walked down an empty street
Her eyes were on the ground
Staring at her feet

It was getting dark
As she headed to her home
With no idea in the world
That she was not alone

The cool wind blew her hair
As she walked along
Her eyes became wide
As she heard a familiar song

It was the howl of a wolf
But was it in the city?
The girl picked up her pace
Moving more quickly

The next howl was closer
Sounding like it was in pain
But the girl continued on
As it started to rain

Barely able to see
In the falling water
Her mother would be worried
About her young daughter

Maybe she should call her
To tell her mother she was fine
Her mother's scolding voice
Was playing in her mind

The girl didn't notice
Until it was too late
Something hard bumped into her
Hands reached to hold her in place

Apologies were said
The girl looked up with surprise
And gasped with shock
As she stared into golden eyes

Those eyes, she knew them
They have haunted her dreams
She stared up into them
For awhile as it seemed

Black hair, black fur
It all came together
Was this the wolf, she thought
As she stood in the rainy weather

The man apologized again
Then quickly hurried off
The girl wanted to help him
Because he let out a loud cough

Was it him, she wondered
The wolf she saw months ago?
Or was he just a man
Hurrying to his home?

But she had seen the look
That had played deep before he disguised
The girl knew what the man was;
The wolf with piercing golden eyes
