When I Heard Your Voice
Author:

Earlier today, my sister called my aunt's house. She got the answering machine. The message on it was still my uncle's voice....even though he died five months ago....

(VERSE ONE)

I called up your house just this morning

I know you are gone, and I don't know why I called

But I did

Then the answering machine clicked on….

(Chorus)

I heard your voice again

And it was like you were still here

I didn't cry, but it was still a shock

When I heard your voice

(VERSE TWO)

When the 'beep' sounded

I hung up the phone

For a moment all I could do was stare

'Cause it was as if you were still here

(Chorus)

I heard your voice again

And it was like you were still here

I didn't cry, but it was still a shock

When I heard your voice

(VERSE THREE)

The smooth tone I had nearly forgotten

Had sounded into my very own ears

Desperate to grasp it again

I dialed your number once more….

(Chorus)

I heard your voice again

And it was like you were still here

I didn't cry, but it was still a shock

When I heard your voice

(VERSE FOUR)

I wanted to call over and over again

I didn't want to lose this link that provided so much

I had pictures in frames, but that wasn't the same

As hearing your wonderful voice

Chorus)

I heard your voice again

And it was like you were still here

I didn't cry, but it was still a shock

When I heard your voice

(Bridge)

I know that you're gone and I can't bring you back

But when I heard your voice it was if God had granted me a precious gift

And I will thank Him for the moment

When I heard…your voice

This is dedicated to my Uncle Rick who died last November at age 45.
