A/N: Below are the lyrics to "O Valencia!" by the Decemberists. And as much as I do love the song, I do not own it. However, to understand the song heavily inspired the story and follows the song. So I guess this is one giant song fiction, another Romeo and Juliet, whatever. I like it and it's pretty original.

Summary: She's a 17-year-old trying to escape the slums and working two jobs. He's a hot-shot rich kid trying to break free from the duldrums of his life full of fakeness. Her mom is a prostitute, her father is a rich man who won't give them wellfare, and her brother runs a fight club to pay the rent, while she dances at a bar and busts tables. His mother and father are fake socialites who want him to be something he's not, an athlete/lawyer/doctor/run-of-the-mill good boy. They came from two different worlds- one rich and fabulous, one risque and fatal- so when they clash, the paths they figured they would follow are forced to take a turn (for better or for worse?). They were born to hate each other and would die in love with each other. Funny how life throws you a curveball. They say there is not life without love and no life without death. So is there no love without death?

Love and Mortality

1. Valencia Lyrics

O Valencia!” by the Decemberists

You belong to the gang
And you say you can't break away
But I'm here with my hands on my heart

Our families can't agree
I'm your brother's sworn enemy
But I'll shout out my love to the stars

So wait for the stone on your window, your window
Wait by the car and we'll go, we'll go

When first we laid eyes
I swore to no compromise
'Til I felt my caress on your skin

Well, how soon we were betrayed
Your sister gave us away
And your father came all unhinged

So wait for the stone on your window, your window
Wait by the car and we'll go, we'll go

Oh Valencia
With your blood still warm on the ground
Valencia
And I swear to the stars
I'll burn this whole city down

All I heard was a shout
Of your brother calling me out
And you ran like a fool to my side

Well the shot, it hit hard
And your frame went limp in my arms
And an oath of love was your dying cry

So wait for the stone on your window, your window
Wait by the car and we'll, go we'll go

Oh Valencia
With your blood still warm on the ground
Valencia
And I'll burn this whole city down
Valencia
With your blood gettin' cold on the ground
Valencia
And I swear to the stars
I'll burn this whole city down

Excellente. Now continue on to the prologue-ish thing.
