Your Eyes

Every time I see you

I hold my breath

And wait for this feeling to go away.

I have to tell myself

That this feeling

Is just an annoying annoyance

Rendering me breathless

If only for a few seconds.

But even I have trouble

Convincing myself

That this is just a passing condition

Unconnected with you.

When I see you

I have to look away

And wrinkle my nose

Because I never look away

Especially from a challenge.

So I have to ask myself

‘Why don’t I just look

Straight Ahead?’

Because that’s were my object

Of unimaginable desire

Is standing.

When I summon up the courage

To glance your way

I hold my breath again

When I see your silky hair

The color of a golden field

At sunset

Falling across your face

In small wips.

And I see your smooth skin

That reminds me of

Milky essence touched by the sun.

But no matter how many times

I look in your direction,

I can’t seem

To find the answer

To the color

Of your eyes.

They are a mystery

As old as Atlantis

And as deep as the sea

Where it lay.
