Well it could be the time

Or my state of mind,

Or the songs I’ve been listening to

But the clock reads 11:11

And I can only wish for you

And if I can only dream

Then I’ll have my dreams,

Have you hand them back

They were never yours to hold

Never yours to steer off track

And if I told you what I wanted

Would you try to prove me wrong?

Would it make for conversation,

Or have you known it all along?

If this is a relapse, I’m not

Going back to that white room

If this is progress, please don’t

Let me look behind

If I give you this, please resist all temptation

To break it

Even out of curiosity, to find out what’s inside

And if I can only dream

Then I’ll have my dreams,

Have you hand them back

They were never yours to hold

Never yours to steer off track

And if I told you what I wanted

Would you try to prove me wrong?

Would it make for conversation,

Or have you known it all along?

Your memory, it tells me I should sleep now

That the shivers have subsided from my spine

That we’ve managed to untie these knots in my stomach

Even if the ends will meet again, embrace and intertwine

Oh, let’s give it a try

And if I can only dream

Then I’ll have my dreams,

Have you hand them back

They were never yours to hold

Never yours to steer off track

And if I told you what I wanted

Would you try to prove me wrong?

Would it make for conversation,

Or have you known it all along?
