We Are The Beginning

Hello.

My name is Yoshitsu Oshii but you can just call me Jazz.

Why Jazz? Well, it's a long story but mostly because I grew up playing piano and was always real interested in playing in a jazz band, even as a kid so people just kinda started the nickname. Yeah, not too interesting.

Let me start off by saying that I live in Tokyo, Japan. I'm not a native but actually just moved here a little over a year ago to attend a university in the city, one which I later dropped out of in the middle of my sophmore year.

Now, it's not like I didn't have something to fall back on. Oh, no. I'm in a band...

We're called Hedgehog's Dilemma and formed just about a month after I moved to Tokyo. We're a six-piece rock band and have recently been gaining a lot of popularity in the underground scene. To be honest, there have been more than a few labels interested in signing us.

What do I play? Keytar. Yeah, not exactly a common instrument anymore but what can I say? I love to be original.

Like I said, I originally started out playing piano and expanded my horizons to include bass guitar as I got into high school. I began playing bass for a small band in my hometown which never got too popular. After that, I tried forming another group with some new friends in which I played keyboard. After our singer left, I took over vocals, meaning for it only to be for awhile but it eventually grew into my full-time job and I ened up dropping keys and singing full time. That band, No Regard, got pretty popular but I left after awhile because I just didnt feel connected to the music we were making. My old bandmates were pretty sore and we ended on bad terms.

That's about the time I moved to Tokyo. After I got settled into the community, I joined another band called Death To Properity which I palyed bass and sung lead in. The band lasted awhile until a few members left to pursue other goals. I tried to reform the band with some new members but that band eventually only ended up turning into my current group.

Hedgehog's Dilemma.

For awhile, my band was made up of five members, with me singing lead as well as keytar. However, about a month ago, we got a new lead singer. His name is Chad Kryven. In case you didnt notice, he's not Japanese. Rather, he was born in the United States and moved here while he was still a baby.

The band was now a six-piece and our careers just kinda took off. We started running area tours, playing with well-known bands, and basically just making our way up the ladder towards fame.

This story I'm going to tell you all isn't just mine. It belongs to all the people involved. My family, my bandmates, my friends, and the girl that changed the course of my existance forever.

It's not gonna be easy. My life got pretty crazy at times. I had real highs and bad lows. It's not gonna be fun all the time but I can tell you one thing, it'll be intersting.

This is the story of a rising band.

The story of a local scene about to change.

The story of a group of friends who must hold onto that friendship through nightmares.

The story of a promise I made which changed everything I knew to be my life forever.

So, get settled in and prepare yourself for a wild ride.

This is my story.

Author's Notes

Yeah, it's been awhile since I've written anything and this is much different than my usual stuff. I'm gonna try to keep updating my other stories but things are going pretty slow right now. I'll try working on everything as much as possible but please be patient.

Please read and review and if you want me to look anything over for you then just say the word.
