Embracing Strange

My eyes always seem blind,

my mind’s some other place.

I don’t want to wake up;

I’m dreaming of your face.

I’m never walking straight,

my feet don’t touch the ground.

If someone’s trying to warn me,

I never hear a sound.

People always wonder why

I reject reality.

I just can’t seem to stay there;

it’s never been for me.

You don’t question where I go

or what I’m there to find.

You love me the way I am –

especially for my mind.

You don’t force me to the ground.

You simply hold my hand,

and guide me round the obstacles

that threaten where I stand.

You don’t try to draw me back

from what’s behind my eyes.

You dream my worlds up with me

and make the strangers stay behind.

You’re the only part of reality

that doesn’t hurt my dreams.

My world is protected by you.

You are my world, it seems.
