I felt your loss and then you were gone

I wish I would have said so many things

How I wish to have been able to see you once more and

Listen to the summer breeze and your life stories

With time came the end

When you and I departed our separate ways

We said our last good byes

You were the father of my dad

You taught him so many things

You stood there encouraging him and made him strong

You made him the man he is today

For that I thank you

As you touched my life too

And I let my tears fall

For I wish to have listened to your life stories

By the fire at night while everything started quieting down

I will always remember you

The man who changed my dad’s life and mine
