My Melting Heart

-o-

I am cold

Alone, and lost

My heart is stony

And filled with frost

-o-

You tell me I am frozen

That I don't care at all

But can't you see I love you?

And that I'm afraid to fall?

-o-

So afraid of the fire

Afraid of the sin

Scared of the promise

That you hold within

-o-

I want to come out

Of this wintry state

But what if this is all

Some heart-catching bait?

-o-

I don't want to hurt

I don't want to cry

And everything in me

Tells me just to try

-o-

If only I could let go

Of my frigid old soul

To just hold you tight

And let love take its toll

-o-

The fire is hot

I'm afraid of the burn

But this cold heart is thawing

Love is taking its turn
