Love Burns

Remembering the scars,

the passion gone astray,

helps me distinguish our love

from the ones that died away.

I used to dread the tears,

the constant, aching pain.

The torment never balanced out

with the parts that kept me sane.

Now I’ve learnt, with help from you

That strange is never wrong.

I should not balance life to find

how much I don’t belong.

If I’d just embrace the strange,

with the pain, and all the turns,

I could love you so much more,

And know it’s no one’s fault love burns.
