Sitting in a large

Circle, the conversation

Continues with ease.

-

Listening, talking,

Every person takes his turn.

All except for him.

-

Completely quiet,

He contentedly listens;

And dreams of speaking.

-

Locked inside his mind

Are thoughts, remarks, and other

Such observations.

-

So why the closed mouth?

Does he fear their rejection?

Or fear his own voice?

-

Maybe, just maybe,

It is none of these reasons.

Perhaps something more.

-

Perhaps he makes not even a creak

Because he has forgotten how to speak.
