Whore of Babylon

It's immense the overkill and aggression
Lying beneath the gleam of bill boards
And cars that stream across landscapes
Filled with other nonsensical oppression
Blocking the stars with their obsession
There's no escape it seems

Yet we ignore the screams from masses
We're blinded by soot-covered eyes
We can't see truth through the murky office windows
And smog thick as molasses
From oil-dependent turkeys and jackasses
Lord knows more evil is a-lurkin'

Lurking in the mire of instability
And stacks upon stacks of perjury
As these quacks tell us we're insane
Under the blanket of science and psychiatry
We all have ADHD and OCD - Who needs a PhD
To see it's all just a guessing game?

Just another skirmish in their war
And they're winning it daily
'Cause we let their grinning propagandist faces
Keep on spinning their crap to our door
Maybe we really are just Babylon's whore
Trading our graces for perpetual lust

And there is, I trust, no end in sight
No one to fight for us poor souls
No one to take up arms against their indifferent roiling
Babbling river of homogenized fright
As back-stabbing shivers silence our right
To end their toiling in our beautiful garden

Shh! Listen -- We can still hear Her voice
We still have a choice, Her words echo clearly
We can still feel Her in the glisten of morning dew
Her tears gently rolling down a single blade of grass
As She fades into the restless, hustling noise
Of our factories and busses and other toys
